With great sadness we announce that Dr Jocelyn M. Hicks, President of the IFCC from 2006 to 2008, passed away on 7th October 2023.

Dr Hicks was an accomplished medical scientist, educator, and administrator.

She will be remembered for her dynamism and many contributions to Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine worldwide and her passion for education. Within the IFCC, she worked to enhance the quality of laboratory testing worldwide. Under her leadership, the Visiting Lecturer Program was greatly expanded. During her presidency, the number of full Members grew. The number of Corporate Members also increased despite many mergers. She was awarded with the IFCC-Henry Wishinsky Award for Distinguished International Services (since 1990) and the IFCC Distinguished International Services Award (1981-1987) in recognition of her efforts towards emerging countries.

Her passing is a significant loss to all of us. The IFCC's thoughts are with her family and friends.
